From Kitchen to Car: Biodiesel Fuel Production at RRC

Mike Myrowich (Auto Mechanics) will present the work he has done with RRC’s biodiesel fuel initiative. The bio-fuel project was implemented in the Spring of 2010 for the purpose of reducing waste produced by the College. Since then, the project has produced approximately 1000L of fuel for the College with existing equipment. In addition to the fuel it provides, the production equipment can be used as a teaching aid for students interested in the production and benefits of bio-fuel. The expected output of this project is to have as many college vehicles as possible operating on bio-fuels within the next few years. Mike will be providing some background on the project, how the fuel is produced and the benefits to the college, environment and students. This presentation will be of interest to staff & students concerned about sustainability, greenhouse gas emission reduction and the benefits to students when instructors engage in practical research.
